Tuza Afutu
Tuza is a Master Drummer, Dancer and Percussionist from Ghana, West Africa developing his skills with Ghana’s top National cultural troupe The Dance Factory.
Tuza started Teambeat with a desire to express his culture with people from all ages and diverse backgrounds. Tuza brings 4 years of experience and knowledge in the interactive corporate drumming sector to Teambeat along with a fresh approach to performance and facilitation, and his irrepressible African energy.
Hayley Linz
Hayley completed an Arts/Law degree at the University of NSW and worked for the Land and Environment Court and Australian Legal Resources before deciding to follow her love of music.
Her passion for African drum and dance led her to Ghana where she studied traditional music for one year. For the past 3 years Hayley has produced world music and interactive corporate drumming events.
She brings her legal eye for detail and her love of music to Teambeat.
Cyndi Tan
Having graduated with a degree in Music Composition and Studio Production at Southern Cross University, Cyndi Tan has emerged as Australia’s foremost female Afro-Latin Percussionist. With 13 years playing experience, she dominates any stage with her exuberance and talent.
Mohamed Bangoura
Mohamed comes from Guinea, West Africa. He was a member of the international acclaimed "Percussion de Guinee" and other National Ensembles. Mohamed was born into a Griot family, whose task it is to carry on the traditional culture through music and song and to tell and pass on the stories of Africa to future generations.
Abdoulaye Le Fevre
Abdoulaye Le Fevre is a Wolof dancer from Dakar, Senegal. Dancing since early childhood, Abdoulaye studied under Senegal’s Dance Masters, has taught at the Dakar Conservatorium and was the principal dancer in the African Ballet Company "Gend’arc", Blaise Senghor and Ballet Seydou.
Abdoulaye has performed and toured internationally with superstar Youssou N'Dour. Since arriving in Australia Abdoulaye has been the dancer of choice for many African ensembles, numerous workshops and performances.
Lailah Masiga
In 2000 Lailah Masiga co-founded Kenya's first and only all female dance company Jokajok. Lailah has worked some of Africa's renowned dancers and choreographers including Salia Sanou, Opiyo Okach and Germaine Acogny and toured and performed world wide. Leila recently choreographed 'Solidarity:HIV/AIDS' (2005) and 'LOUD Silence' shown at the Nairobi Choreographic Encounters and the Theatre Nationale de la Cite, Paris. She is now based in Australia and brings an East African element to Teambeat.
Nhlanhla Phewa
Composer and vocalist Nhlanhla Phewa first toured Australia with the stage musical Ipi Ntombi, having already established himself as a rising star of South African theatre and music. As a singer, he has worked with diverse South African and international artists including Hugh Masekela, Miriam Makeba, Mbongeni Ngema, Billy Ocean and Simply Red. Nhlanhla brings traditional South African gumboot dancing and his wonderful voice to Teambeat.
